Sonoramas pour le moment présent
Lexis (Music Is My Sanctuary)
In Sonoramas pour le moment présent, Lexis invites you to explore, through music collage, three emotions that have become part of our daily lives in recent months: contemplation, melancholy and gratitude. You will hear a series of audio recordings, taken throughout Montreal, mixed with selections of music from many genres, regions and eras. Lexis makes listening to music an intentional activity, breaking the functional approach of music distribution platforms, whereby music is always just an accompaniment to another activity. Lexis’ collages are aptly called soundwalks, as they offer up their different parts as a sort of landscape to explore. The artist invites you to extend this spatial exploration with a walk, by taking paths that are different from the ones you usually take. More than just a simple displacement, the walk is an invitation to rediscover the city that surrounds us; a way to explore and listen to it.
- Grab your best pair of headphones and your favourite walking shoes;
- I encourage you to take paths and side streets, to explore nature, to discover spaces that you do not usually walk on. If you always turn left, this time turn right! This is a good way to put yourself in a mindstate of observing life's little beautiful details which you might never pay attention to;
- If possible, turn off all unnecessary notifications on your phone.
