Connor Willumsen
Video Chat Portraits

In Video Chat Portraits, Willumsen shows us a series of portraits done through video conference posing sessions. Avoiding the usual conventions of static portraits, the sessions were conducted in a more relaxed and conversational way, allowing for a freer touch. These drawings also appear to incorporate the glitch that can occur while video conferencing, recalling the fragmented experience of a conversation on these platforms. Starting off with the people close to him, this project quickly brought him into contact with people beyond his immediate circle. All of Willumsen's drawings are now available on his virtual studio, accompanied by texts that reflect his thoughts on the process. For the digital exhibition, a video interview with the artist will allow you to discover the environment in which the works were produced and to learn more about some of the drawing sessions.
